The Carolina Angels Share Collective (C.A.S.C) traces its roots back to 2016 when a small group of friends bonded over good bourbon and fellowship. In 2017, this camaraderie led to the creation of the Raleigh Bourbon & Banter Facebook group, quickly growing to around 1000 members by the following year. As membership expanded, the group initiated its first group barrel pick in 2018—an 11-year-old Elijah Craig Bourbon. The demand was overwhelming with the entire barrel selling out in just over an hour.
By 2019, with several thousand members, the group embraced the idea of giving back to the local community. Seven group barrel picks featuring whiskies from Wild Turkey, Old Scout, Elijah Craig, and Old Elk were carefully selected. This was accompanied by the creation of a unique barrel pick registration program ensuring fairness and equal opportunity to all members. The registration program marked the official beginning of the group's fundraising efforts. In 2020, with over 5000 members, the collective voted to support Vets to Vets United. A nonprofit connecting Veterans with Veterinarians and a support animal. As a result of the barrel pick registrations and a successful First Annual Golf Tournament, the $10,000 goal was met and surpassed!
Each subsequent year witnessed the growth of RB&B's member base and increased fundraising goals. In 2021, they aided the North Carolina Restaurant Relief Fund for COVID relief, followed by support for the Raleigh/Durham chapter of the Ronald McDonald House in 2022. In 2023, over $20,000 was donated to the local animal rescue organization, Saving Grace Animals for Adoption. The group annually votes to select the beneficiary, with 2024 focusing on supporting a Durham based organization called Stop Soldier Suicide.
